This was my favorite meal of our recent trip to Ashland, OR. We had early reservations for Sat. night, made by the concierge at the Plaza.
We were promptly seated at a very nice table by the window. From the very start, the service was impeccable. The server called me "madam" and my daughter "madamoiselle." (sp?) I could tell right away this was going to be a very nice experience.
I started with the soup of cream of sunchoke, potato & leek which has pickled sunchokes and house cured muscovy duck breast. It was one of the best soups I have had in a long time. Savoring every bite, I refused to let my husband share this with me which we had earlier said we would do. Amazing flavors, just perfect.
The wine I chose was a Paschal 2001 Pinot Gris which was VERY good. My entree was from the Oceans, Rivers and Seas section of the menu. The hot alder smoked bellingham bay coho salmon served with melange of beets and beans with hazelnut vinaigrette. There are no sides with this entree, and it was amazing. Again, savoring every bite. My husband chose the guinea hen from the Forests and Farms section of the menu, which he said was amazing. My DD had a special order of fettucini alfredo made to her taste. (This is not on the menu.) She said it was very good and when I took a bite of this, I almost devoured her meal. Very nice!!
For dessert, I chose the Meyer Lemon tartlet in a crisp, freshly baked pastry shell with candied kumquats. It was the perfect finish to the meal. Service throughout was consistently professional. Our experience here was a hit and I will definitely return.
I highly recommend a visit to this wonderful place, located right next to the Peerless Hotel on Fourth Street. www.peerlessrestaurant.com is the website. Bon Appetit! ***kim*** Two appetizers, three entrees, two desserts and one glass of wine was just under $100 and worth every cent!!! :)
