On mostly the recommendation of the board here I stopped for lunch at Thai Chili. I thought I would try some of the food before I went nuts and did a large takeout order for my family.
I had a lunch special that consisted of salad, soup, and I chose the Panang with pork. The salad was fresh and crisp with a fairly strong peanut dressing - not as good as the dressing at Mei Thai in Woodbridge, but very tasty and good.
The soup of the day was Tom Yum, but as I prefer the Tom Kha, I asked if I could have that instead. No problem for them and in a few minutes I was enjoying a small bowl of coconut milk enriched soup with some white meat chicken and vegetables in it. It was a very small bowl and I found myself wishing it weren't as it was very good, but it was fine for lunch.
The Panang was as it should be, fairly mild for a thai curry, but fragrant and flavorful and full of fresh vegetables like string beans and peppers. And speaking of fragrant, I must confess that I did laugh out loud when I read from the menu that they serve "flagrant rice".
All in all I found Thai Chili to be a winner and I look forward to trying many more of their dishes. Tyvm chowhounders for the great tip.
