We drove through St. Louis this weekend on our way to a wedding and per the direction of several people, we made a stop at Ted Drewes Frozen Custard Stand. Between the four of us we tried the Chocolate, Strawberry, Pistachio and Heath Concrete (separately, not mixed together.) Each received one vote for favorite. We're all new to frozen custard, (theres not much of it here in Minnesota) so this lead to two general questions.
1. What distinguishes frozen custard from ice cream and ice milk?
2. Is Ted Drewes the real deal? Are there other comparable custard stands elsewhere in the Midwest (preferably closer to St. Paul or in Northwestern WI?)
Any chowhelp would be greatly appreciated as I think I may have developed a new addiction.
