We tried Tastings in Mystic, Ct last night and were very impressed. It's a franchise concept restaurant that started in Florida. They have a state-of-the-art wine system which allows them
to have almost 100 bottles open at a time. You buy a card in varying denominations which allows you a number of tastings of several ounces or more. They also have some nice beers on draft, including Wolavers organic oatmeal stout (yum!)
We went mainly for the food, though, which was really quite good. They do small dishes--cheese and meat platters where you make your own selections from a list of offerings, flatbread
pizzas, salads, etc. Four of us shared 5 dishes, 3 glasses of wine and a beer. The check came
to about $90. Good food, good wine, good beer, good service, and good ambiance. All in all a very pleasant evening. Anyone else tried it? Agree? Disagree?
