The annual Taste of Hartford runs all of next week, Aug. 3-9, with 23 participating restaurants, each charging $20.08 per person (plus tax & tip) for a 3-course dinner.
Details, including a list of the restaurants and their special menus, can be found at
There seem to be a few clunkers among the offerings, but more than half of the participating restaurants offer genuinely interesting and creative courses, the two Iberian restaurants offering a choice of seven and nine entrees, respectively. All for only $20.08, a remarkable feat considering the rapid rise in food and operating costs over the past few months. I seriously doubt they will be able to pull it off again next year for $20.09.
