Tampa Rib Barn -- BBQ to die for...

I've seen the Rib Barn -- W/Th/Fri/Sat only -- and have been wanting to try it. My husband and I happened by on our way to ramp onto I-275 at Lois Avenue. Rib Barn is a mobile BBQ joint on Cypress at Lois Avenue, 1 block north of the interstate. No seating, just drive-by BBQ.

I'm not crazy about BBQ. Too much of the sauce tastes the same, full of sugar, unoriginal. Often the chicken is dry, or the pork is mush, or the ribs are not so meaty and too expensive.

Rib Barn is one of the best BBQs I've ever had and a real meal value. All the meats were substantial portions, and cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. The sauce was really spectacular. Not overly thick and sweet, but rather tangy with just the right combination of sweet and sour.

My only complaint was the sides did not include greens, which I love. They have potato salad, baked beans, mac.&cheese, and coleslaw. We did not order sides but will try them next time, and I will be headed back there soon.

They were bragging about their sweet potato pie.

They have call ahead service: 813/300-4511. So some of you BBQ lovers give it a try and tell me what you think.
