Tamarine is a modern Vietnamese restaurant that opened on Dundas St in October 2010, a few doors west of Kingsmill's. Tamarine is owned by the same family who runs the more traditional and more casual Quynh Nhi on Wharncliffe, which has been one of our go-to restos for my tho soup and fresh rolls in London.
It's nice to see dishes such as claypot chicken and carmelized salmon on the menu, as well as some interesting appetizers that usually don't appear in Vietnamese restaurants that are more focused on pho & bun. As with many Vietnamese restaurants in London, some Thai dishes are included on the menu, such as Pad Thai.
Last night, I shared a green mango salad with shrimp, honey roasted quail, vegetarian fresh rolls and seafood pad thai (with shrimp, scallops, crab stick and squid) with a friend. Also tried the shrimp Canh Chua soup, which included cabbage and okra in a slightly sour tamarind-flavoured broth. Fresh, light flavours.
Enjoyed each dish that I tried. I look forward to trying out more of the menu.
Reasonably priced, with friendly service. Open for lunch & dinner.
