Tama Sushi and other journeys... (longish)

I finally got myself over to Tama Sushi on Saturday night. Party of four, each had a different omakase. Since my father was paying, I went for the most expensive.

The differences between the $30 and the $40 sushi omakase were hard to detect for my palate. The paper pot soup that comes with the more expensive meal was fantastic, and I will order it next time I go (and I will return). The sushi was very good across the board, though my GF didn't like it as much as I did. She was comparing it to Nozawa (not to bring up this debate again), whose cuts are more tender. I was comparing it to Noshi, our regular sushi place, and found it superior. I suppose it falls some place in between, though much closer to the former than the latter. The service was great and the decor was nice. Those who have not been should definitely go.

Saturday afternoon I took silverlake girl's advice and went to ISS, which I had been meaning to check out anyway. I loved it. Spent more time browsing the market than in the cafeteria, which was crowded even at 5:00 PM. The food was tasty. I can't wait to start cooking Indian food.

Sunday was Mario's Peruvian. Good as always, but a word of warning: their clock is ten minutes fast, so they close the doors at 7:50 rather than 8:00 PM, for those who live life at the last minute as I sometimes do.

Thanks for the tips, chowhounds.
