Taiwan Cafe and a few others

So I finally made it to the Taiwan Cafe last week for lunch when I took Mon. off and got the infamous eggplant. Obviously this is a personal thing cuz everyone loves it so much, but the basil was too overpowering for me. The eggplant itself was great, that nice purple color coming thru. Wasn't into the soup they served either. Took most of it home to save room for New Year's Eve dinner at Vox Populi where $45 got us 4 courses. My friend got the veg. spring rolls, 4 good sized ones and I got a good sized plate of nice fried calamari. We both had mixed green salad with goat cheese crouton and filet mignon. I ordered mine medium and had to send it back, way too red. It still wasn't really medium but I dealt with it. But they had to be reminded that asparagus came with the meat and mashed potatos when they brought it back. Dessert was a choc. cake w/ raspberry coulis and heath bar crunch pie. I was ready to burst after but we enjoyed it.

A few days before, a friend and I tried the Asgard which is in the space formerly occupied by the Austin Grill in Central Sq. They've got a weird medieval decor going in there and a gussied up Irish menu. I had fish and chips which were okay but the batter was on the sweet side which I don't like. My friend got a huge bowl of Guinness beef stew which he liked, but felt like he'd never eat again. Prices are in the $9-14 range, some entertainment if you're into that. Also made a quick stop to the Miracle of Science for veggie and regular burgers, a very dependable place. Also dependable is lunch at Chef Chang's for tofu/broccoli/mushrooms w/ rice, soup and those yummy dried noodles. Such a deal at $5.50.

Does anyone know what happened to Henry's Diner? It's been pretty closed the last few times I've driven by. It makes me sad when diners close.
