Z-Sushi Alhambra: Another convert

I’m pleased to confirm tokyoastrogirl’s recommendation of this place, which is serving up some brilliantly fresh fish, and some inventive fusion rolls.

The Z’s special roll included tuna, asparagus, crab?, wrapped in a novel-to-me pink seaweed, and garnished with two kinds of mayo-based spicy dressings, and fresh jalapenos. It was brilliant. Also enjoyed a tempura-style eel and garlic roll. Obviously I enjoy places that feel free to tamper with authenticity, but I have a feeling a sushi purist would also be satisfied here.

Menu changes daily according to what’s available.

Great service too. Reasonably priced overall, but not cheap. (Aside: for excellent cheap sushi, visit Shaab in Old Town Pasadena)

Z also has a full menu of non-sushi Japanese food.

Just two doors south of Twohey’s, on Garfield Ave. (x Huntington). Open Labor Day :)
