I know that there have already been some posts on this new restaurant, but I thought I add a few thoughts from our recent dinner there. First of all, the noise level is deafening! When we first arrived, we thought that the house music was a tad loud and intrusive. By the time the room filled up and our food came, we couldn't even hear the music, because at every table people were shouting to communicate. Our waiter also engaged in some of the most comical upselling attempts I have ever experienced. As he gave us our menus, he described at great length, and with great enthuisiasm, three wine "specials," without indicating their prices. When we asked, we learned that these specials ranged from $100-$120. When we were ordering, he kept trying to steer us to the sushi and sashimi starters ($27, I believe) and away from the $7-$8 dumplings that we were interested in. He also botched our order and blamed it on the kitchen. Overall, even thought S. Foo was there and making the rounds, service was weak. The food, though, was pretty good. We liked the dumplings and the crab cake starters. For mains, I really liked the spicy lamb with eggplant and the shaking beef. I was disappointed by the "signature" crispy duck. Our order was dried out and served barely warm, and, IMO, the sweet potatoe puree and sauce that accompanied it were nothing special. Desserts looked good, but we passed.
