Supermercado La Gloria Oxnard

Some friends took me to Restaurante and Supermercado La Gloria in Oxnard on Oxnard Blvd right next to the train/bus station today.

I felt like I was in Mexico. Yes, yes, folks. It was a happy feeling.

There is a nieves (sorbet) stand with all the tropical flavors. There is a hot deli with all kinds of meats made from parts of animals not seen in any El Torito, decorated by a festive goat skull. There is a licuado and jugo (milkshake and juice) bar. There is a panaderia. They make hot hot tortillas ($1.19 for 3 dozen) and masa and nixtamal on site. A salsa and coctel bar.

Then the market has pretty much everything, too. Meats, seafood, produce, a dozen kinds of dried chiles, Mexican cheeses, typical Mexican grocery and cleaning products.

We had just eaten lunch and I don't eat meat, so I didn't try any of the delicious looking preparations. But my nieves was just fabulous. And I had to keep sampling hot tortillas on the way home.
