Sultan II

Sultan II is on the south side of 23 St at the intersection where Madison begins, 16 E. 23 St. This is a middle eastern fast food place. The sandwiches are up front, if you want lamanjun (turkish pizza) or similar flat bread, you walk to the back to a different counter. I didn't try the sandwiches, instead of pita they are made with pide. Everything looked fresh. I was there during a weekday lunch and they had enough staff to speedily fill the many orders they had. I went to the back and bought lamanjun and another bread wrapped around a spinach mix. Fresh but I've had tastier lamanjun, the spinach bread was too oily. The lamanjun is embellished with a mix of greenery, tomatoes and onions. The breads are $3 each. When I used to work in this neighborhood there was a dearth of decent lunch places, if they keep selling fresh food, Sultan II should continue to do very well.
