You're in Singapore, and you're surrounded by wonderful kopi tiams with strong kopi/teh to relieve the sleep deprivation, but for some reason you miss your local hip coffee joint back in the Bay Area. And there's no way you're setting foot in a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, or worse yet, that *other place*, cos you can get that back home. The Strangers' Reunion has you covered.
It sits in a cute row of shop houses in Outram Park. It's spacious and airy, with the counter down the right, tables down the left, and a spotless restroom at the far end. Ryan Tan, founder and National Barista Champion, wasn't in when we visited.
We both got a Magic, which is their "perfect" ratio of double ristretto and milk. Very mild. I didn't ask about the beans, but I brought back their house "Strange Blend" and it's a very light roast. We also had the matcha azuki cake - green tea with red bean. I found it a little dry, except for the bits with the red bean, which were deliciously chewy.
Breakfast items looked really good, but that would mean I get to eat less roti, so...
They're in need of a new AC.
