My daughter poached a couple of eggs in the microwave. She thought they smelled a little strange. I countered that she cooked the yolks hard and the sulfur odor came from the yolk. She started to poke at the egg and she found a little pocket with a somewhat orange gelatinous blob and a tubular shape. Put us both right off. It was not chalaza/chalazae but something I have never seen before. Perhaps the egg had been fertilized? It was a free-range egg. I am not usually grossed-out by food but this did make me a bit queasy.
I can't find anything on the web about this, so I am turning to you folks.
Any takers here?
