Family & I will be heading to San Antonio & South Padre Island in July. Not sure where we are staying at either place yet.
I'm looking for BBQ, Chicken Fried Steak, Burgers, & Tex-Mex places in, around and on the way to both places. We'll obviously have a car & we don't mind a 30-40 minute drive as long as the food is good.
After searching the boards, I have a few ideas. I think we'll drive to City Market in Luling for sure though. Can anyone tell me how long of a drive it is from S.A.? My oldest daughter wants to go to Salt Lick, but it doesn't sound like it's worth the trip. What's the drive time to there from S.A. in case we indulge her?
We are planning on touring the Alamo & I read something about puffy tacos nearby. Are they like Indian Fry Bread?
We'll also hit the Riverwalk, what kinds of places are near there? Any street food/vendors?
I have no clue what's around South Padre, doesn't look like there is much but the beach.
We're not looking for anything fancy or expensive. We'll be spending alot of time at the waterparks and will be starving by the end of the day. We just want something delicious & satisfying & fairly quick.
I think that should get us started. Thanks!
