So I bought some dry white and black beans. I took the white beans and put them in water to soak for 24 hours. But when I opened the container to cook them, they smelled kind of funky. Is this normal? They don't smell rotten per se, just stinky or pungent. I tasted one and aside from it not being cooked yet, it tasted fine. Is this normal? Can I expect this with the black beans too?
