There are many overrated restaurants in Danbury but few are as bad as Two Steps on Ives Street. I just wasted money on food that had to be thrown away and now I want to vent. The food was overcooked and overpriced. I brought home two orders of roast chicken with vegetables, fries and caesar salads. Oddly, the chicken was coated in Italian herbs under the skin and then smothered in bbq sauce. And if that wasn't bad enough, it was dry and mealy. The potatoes were so saturated in grease they actually appeared wet and the salad was coated in thick yellow dressing, causing the lettuce to wilt. On top of that the dressing was sweet and didn't taste anything like caesar.
The Danbury area has great ethnic food. I love Pancho's Tacos, Los Andes, Three Amigos Deli, Bombay, The Sesame Seed, The Goulash Place, House of Yoshida and Famous Pizza, both in Bethel, Rocco's in Brookfield (Fantastic Wednesday night specials).
That said, I've yet to find any decent American food. I've tried it all, Widow Brown's, Chuck's Steakhouse, Rosy Tomorrow's, Ruby Tuesday's - ok maybe that's not everywhere. But with so many mediocre places out there, a girl gets scared. At least my time in Danbury has made me a better cook.
I feel better now. If anyone can recommend some place decent, please post.
