We had a spectacular meal at Splendido this past Saturday evening. We were welcomed back by the charming and first-rate server, Tim, who was totally professional while being totally personable. The service was superb, as was the food. Everything was good. Apps were Seared La Bella Farms Duck Foie Gras ($22), Yellow Fin Tuna Sashimi and Tartare $16.50), the Antipasti Platter ($15.50) and Borden Farms Tomato Salad $15.25). A complimentary cup of Press Pot Mushroom Soup was delightful. Main courses were two items from the menu, Pan Roasted Angus Beef Filet Mignon ($36) and Wood Oven Roasted Colorado Lamb Rack ($44), and an off-menu special, Oven Roasted Lobster with Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes ($44), a special that has been occasionally offered by Splendido for many years and which is always over the top. For desserts, we shared a Valrhona Chocolate Fudge Souffle and a Fresh Strawberry Tart. Chef David Wolford is still doing it right. The prices are high, but worth it if you place a high priority on excellent food.
