We recently moved to San Carlos. One of the first restaurants I tried was Speederia Pizzeria, which bills itself as having "Real New York Style Pizza."
As someone with deep roots in New York and New Haven, I would like to think I know good pizza.
Speederia was definitely the best pizza I've had on the West Coast: The interior of the crust was thin and crispy--but not too thin or crispy--just right. The perimeter of the crust was nicely crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. The toppings were flavorful and properly cut and cooked--no gloppy soggy veggies. The pizza was deftly topped with a fresh tasting tomato sauce and just the right amount of cheese. Unlike so many bastardized pizzas around here, the pizza was a perfect balance of cheese, sauce and crust (Why do all of those chains all think that globbing pounds of poor quality cheese makes for a good pizza?). I've only had warmed slices so far, I can't wait to have a pie fresh from the oven!
A slice of cheese is $2.00 with all other slices $2.50, a whole cheese pie is 1$2.50, with additional toppings $1.50.
