Sparse Salt at Convivium Osteria

Heard all the rave reviews and finally got to Convivium Saturday night. My date got the chicken livers wrapped in pancetta for an app, and the rabbit entree. His dishes were wonderful, tender and flavored just right.

I got the octopus for an app, and the bacalau (salt cod casserole with mashed potatoes and spinach). Not sure where I went wrong, but for some reason both dishes were not salted enough. Salt would have really helped because I think the potential was there.

I admit I could have just asked for salt, but I was kind of embarassed and didn't want to offend the host, who already seemed annoyed that we only got the $28 bottle of wine (an Orvieto from Umbria which was pretty good, actually).

Anyway, did anyone else experience a similar salt deficiency at Convivium lately?
