SPANISH Coffee Cake - Just heard of it - would like recipe

boisenewbie | Aug 17, 2009 09:15 AM

I met a nice old lady yesterday who told me she makes Spanish Coffee Cakes. I had only heard of regular coffee cakes so I asked her what made them "Spanish" She said she uses different spices like cinnamon, cardamon, saffron and nutmeg etc.

That sounded great! So I Googled it to see if I could get a recipe. (Should have asked for hers, but time did not permit) ... I am looking at a list of "Spanish Coffee Cake" recipes and I DON'T EVEN SEE
ONE (!) that looks any different than regular coffee cake. I am serious. One lady only puts 2 different kinds of sugar, Crisco, nuts and cinnamon in hers and call it "Spanish" WHAT??!!

I am really confused!

Does anyone have a recipe (even if it only has cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamon I'll be happy!!)
