I ate at Spago last night and was suprised just how good the food was; I had eaten there once a couple of years ago and don't recall it being nearly so good - I am wondering if they have changed head chefs. I ordered some of the Austrian dishes they had on the menu: a supberb chicken consomme with herb crepes and julienned vegetables, and a spicy goulash. The goulash was certainly the best I've ever eaten. Dessert was also wonderful - a fourteen layer dark chocolate cake (very thin layers, clearly) separated by crunchy praline cream. In all, I can't imagine you could get better Austrian food in Austria...
I had sort of given up on PuckCo, but this dinner made me reconsider. I rate the food the best high end stuff in LA currently.
My only complaint: I wasn't able to get a seat in the courtyard, which is clearly the most attractive part of the restaurant to be in.
