I'm a transplanted Chicagoan who still comes back a few times per year to visit family in the South Suburbs. I just heard about the Dan Ryan being closed for two years or something like that - we all know how accurate highway construction predictions are!
It seems to me that as all the traffic gets routed to other north/south arteries, there are going to be a lot of people stuck in traffic for a lot longer than before, and in neighborhoods they've not been familiar with before.
Soooo - are there any hidden gems along any of the Dan Ryan substitutes that might become the subject of a "drive halfway home, stop and have dinner, then drive the rest of the way" plan?
