Tried Levi's Port Cafe (on 8th St. SE next to the Navy Yard) for the first time this weekend. It was really great and i'd recommend it to anyone craving southern home cooking.
I had wonderful, super crisp, well seasoned, piping hot fried chicken (I'd say it beats Central's), mac and cheese, and collard greens. SO had the BBQ pulled pork which he said was great. The place looks a little sketchy (both inside and out) but the owner/chef is really friendly and, obviously, a great cook. Prices were extrordinarly reasonable - I got two huge pieces of chicken, two big sides, and bread for about 7 bucks!
