Soigne--what a disappointment

I was really psyched for a stellar meal at this place based on a report on this site. Rack of lamb comparable to Daniel??? Are we talking about the same restaurant?? Went on Friday night for dinner with two friends. For an app I had the baby spincah salad with goat cheese and pecans. The spinach was wilted, due, no doubt, to the ton of dressing on it. Way too much salt, two pecans and two microscopic dabs of goat cheese. Oh, yes, and a single grape tomato cut in half.

On to the entree. I had the rack of lamb and ordered it medium rare. It came out almost raw. But not only that, it was fatty and looked as though it had been sitting out for awhile. The meat was mushy and rather tasteless. As I looked around the room I did see other orders of rack of lamb go by and they looked better--of course I don't know what they tasted like. Mine was certainly not up to anyone's idea of service standards.

One friend had the hanger steak which was exceptionally tough (I realize this is a chewy cut of meat but this was beyond 'chewy'). Other friend had the Long Island duck breast which was, as she put it, one star out of a possible five.

I won't go into all the details like the inexperienced service but I sure won't go there again. High prices for low quality. Too bad.

By the way, we didn't even stay for dessert. It was that bad.
