I've been seeing ads for this new place, and drove by (it's in the Walmart shopping center at Cooper and I-60). The ads didn't indcate the name, just a symbol with the letters SN and "Pacific Rim Cuisine". More out of curiousity than anything, we Decided to stop by for dinner last night. After only one visit, I'm befuddled, confused and don't quite know how to explain this place.
It's ill conceived, disorganized, and the name is ridiculous. SN, it turns out means Simply Noodles. All I knew was that it offered foods from different asian countries. Turns out all entrees are noodles with. . . Beautiful looking menus (read: expensive), great table settings, a pretty sushi bar type setting. A wine by the glass, martini and special drink menu is quickly offered, but no wine by the bottle? We had to ask to get the prices, and wait while they figured them out! And they were a bit pricey at that.
Service was friendly, but don't ask what the different dishes are -- poor kid didn't know except "it's spicy" and "it's one of my favorites." Most dishes are spicy. Four or five entrees from each of Japan, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore. the food WAS good, but the whole idea was wrong, the prices were wrong, the whole idea just didn't come together.
Noodles are casual fast food, I dont' expect $10 a bowl. When we ordered two different dishes we wanted to share, and they delivered two big bowls, we asked for two plates. No plates. Instead, two more big bowls.
Would I go back? I don't know. Maybe for a martini and appitizers (strangely enough, they were not noodles.) I'm still dazed and confused, but with a full tummy and tasty leftovers.
