Pickwick Catfish Farm Restaurant is a new favorite, serving catfish with a twist. Their specialty is hickory-smoked catfish, one of the best things that can be done to a catfish! The owners, Betty and Quent Knussmann aren't originally from the Midsouth, but they know how to please these Southern tastebuds. The only thing I can think of that it reminds me of is smoked salmon in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to the scrumptious smoked fish, they have some of the best hushpuppies around, and their coleslaw is excellent, too. My DH says that the fried fish is good, too, but I haven't tried it.
I've eaten fried catfish almost all my life, blackened catfish for quite a few years, but I really hate to admit that although this restaurant has been around for 20 or more years, I'd never been there until about recently.
