Site is sluggish ever since Search changes

I've noticed that the site seems to freeze for a while everytime I browse to a new page. I'm not sure if it's a change in the code of the site (DHTML or some such thing) or if it's the (new??) flash advertisements, but it is really, really annoying to have to wait 5-10 seconds after new pages load before the page is responsive; e.g.., before I can scroll or type something in the Search bar. (I use primarily the Boards, so I don't know if other parts of the site are affected.) This definitely happened on Friday *after* the site went down for "scheduled maintenance" and came back up with the new Search. It seems like more than the Search was changed, maybe the advertisement parts of the site were also changed.

On both my desktop and laptop, which are approx 1.8GHz/512MB computers with 32MB nVidia graphics, I have this issue. On a friend's very recent Core Duo fancy schmancy laptop, I don't have this problem. On another friend's one year old laptop (unsure of specs), the problem is much less (1-2 seconds), but it's still there and still noticeable.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
