Have driven past Singh's many times (usually on my way to a banh mi at Ba Le), and today decided to stop in.
Ordered a pork roti with cabbage and pumpkin - fatty chunks of belly pork in a sweetish mild curry, topped with pumpkin mash and crunchy tumeric-flavored cabbage strips, all loosely wrapped in roti. The curry was rather bland and needed doctoring up with hot sauce. Also, it was lukewarm so the greasiness was more pronounced. Pumpkin was not a good choice because the curry was already sweetened, and the pumpkin tipped the balance unfavorably. Channa or potato would've been better add-ins. I was also disappointed that the roti was room-temp. I should've checked before ordering. If I'd known, I'd have ordered a 'buss up shut' which is made fresh-to-order and cost only a dollar more.
I'm curious to know how Singh's compares to Ali's roti, which I've yet to try. Has anyone eaten at both and can provide a comparison? Also, is the roti place in JP that's only open on weekends, which MB posted on some years ago, still open ? Is it still good?
