Sometimes the parking hassle in Chinatown gets to me. Would be interested in reliable restaraunts in other neighborhoods; signature dishes, etc.
My old standby is Chun Hing, off Monument Ave, Behind Adam's Mark, next to Pathmark. Been going there for at least 20 years, and it sure is reliable.
Signature dishes could make a meal: shredded pork and spiced turnip soup, steamed or fried dumplings that have their act together (dough, filling, dipping sauce all first rate) and a dish not found in too many Chinese restaurants: Shrimp and Watercress, Shun Hing style. Can be ordered as spicy or non-spicy as you like. This is available for lunch or dinner, even if it isn't shown on the lunch menu.
There used to be an upscale Chinese place off City LIne Ave, near Haverford Ave. Anyone know its name, and whether it's still innovative and great?
