I moved into the neighborhood about 3 months ago and asked for your recommendations, and they were great. So now I'm trying to return the favor with a quick note about the new organic restaurant on Henry Street, Siggy's.
I had a positive experience here on both occasions I went, and it seems quite a good addition to the neighborhood (judging from my short time here). The first time, about a month ago, I had a ciabatta roll with brie, apple slices, almonds, olive oil, and fig jam. It was just the right mixture of sweet and sour, soft and crunchy. Before my meal, they also gave me a complimentary "Siggy Special" (I think that's what it was called). I don't remember exactly what was in it, but it involved what I think was oats, dates, raisins, maple syrup, and bananas on top. It was a breakfast item, and it was quite good. I also had a ginger iced tea, which I wasn't particularly fond of, but I'm not too crazy about ginger.
I went there again yesterday for brunch. Be forewarned on hot days, their air conditioning didn't work. But my companion and I were both very happy with our meals - simple as they were. I had eggs scrambled with feta, and it came with potatoes, a small salad, and toast. My friend got scrambled tofu, which was not as good, but I had never had scrambled tofu before so I'm not sure what exactly to compare it with. These two sizeable breakfasts, along with two iced coffees, were $14 total - a good price for the neighborhood, I'd say.
