I keep meaning to post about these places. Every weekend I enjoy Sunday breakfast from Canto 6. They make some of the best croissants in town, so flaky and light. I didn't really appreciate them until a trip where I ate many an inferior, leaden version. I also love their cranberry oat bar, just the right about of fruit -- not too sweet. I crave these, and I'm not ordinarily a big cran fan. Also tried yesterday a ham, caramelized onion and blue cheese scone, which I really liked except I wished it had more ham to balance out the sweetness of the onions.
As for Ula Cafe, I don't think pastry is their strength right now. In that area I think Canto reigns and they have a much better selection. But -- I had a wonderful sandwich at Ula that I want to mention: turkey breast, avocado spread, provolone and bacon on some nice thick, home made bread. Fantastic. Huge, too, half a sandwich we enough for lunch. Only slight bummer: pretty expensive sammy, $7+ (but I guess you need to pay for great ingredients)
