Short Review - Pinks

Hi Everyone,

First off many thanks to all who replied to my concerns about wine. Many ideas and theories I'd probably never arrive at on my own will certainly lead me in new directions.
Today was my first ever visit to Pinks Hot Dogs on Melrose and LaBrea. I've lived in LA for more then half of my 32 years. Why then have I not tried Pinks until now? I cannot say. Perhaps I was a little too sheltered growing up.
After a great afternoon with my father who is in town visiting we head to Pinks. This was his first visit as well. We both had the 10" stretch chilli dog, hold the mustard, add cheese to mine, fries and sodas. We found the chilli to be excellent. Not too hot or spicy, just right. This allowed the excellent flavor of the link itself to be enjoyed. The fries were a little over-cooked and surprisingly had very little taste. Perhaps the onion rings are better? The whole process moves along at a good pace. With the always long lines at Pinks we were afraid that the seating situation would be a nightmare but we found indoor seating right as our order was completed. The only real disappointments for me was the lack of a soda dispenser (sodas are sold by the can, no re-fills) and the hot dog link was a little too thin. Tastes great, so make it even better with a more plump link.
Can I recomend Pinks? You betcha, just leave plenty of time for the wait in line.
Cheers,
Marc
