Has anyone had any experience with this? I send about ten a year to friends and family out-of-state. In the past, I've used Gambino's and Randazzo's, but these are getting prohibitively expensive at a minimum of $40 each. I'm considering buying the king cakes at local prices and shipping them myself by two-day priority mail. I'm estimating that I can save at least half the cost by doing it this way but I'm wondering how well they will travel. I'm inclined to avoid the filled ones because the filling might be more susceptible to spoiling. Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.
