Shanghai Dumpling Shop on Balboa update

Having struck out at SDS last time, I tried again today in the company of a Shanghai-native friend. We ordered, for lunch:

* Shanghai style meat wonton (in soup)
* Beef noodle soup (hot & spicy beef strew with vermicelli)
* Savory soy bean milk

The wonton in soup were delicious, delicate, and meaty. The soup was full of flavor and tasted of fresh chicken and scallions.

The XLB were very good, with tender skins that did not fall apart and a flavorful filling.

The beef noodle soup was very good as well, with a spicy but not firy broth infused with feeb goodness and a fairly generous amount of beef stew meat and a few large bits of connective tissue (not tendon).

The soy bean milk was a refreshing suprise, being salty and flavorful and full of delicious fungus bits.

My dining companion commented on the Chinese-only selections posted on the wall, saying that they are all the Shanghai specialty snacks that he opften misses here.

Overall experience: very good. I am a new convert and will definitely be back.
