I have some good friends who will be moving away from LA next week, and I'd like to take them out for shabu shabu. Since it'd be the first time for all of us, I'd like some input from you.
What are you favorite shabu shabu places in LA? I don't mind if it's in Downtown, Gardena, Sawtelle, etc. What distinguishes those places? What are the proper etiquettes, if any? If you're an expert on the cuisine, and would like to share your wealth of details, please do.
We tend to place the food above all else. That being equal, we favor authenticity (i guess meaning traditional in this sense) over trendy - especially since this is the first time. Oh, and since I'm paying, please list estimated prices if you can :) .
So far, I'm leaning towards Shabu Hachi or Shabu House. More so towards Shabu Hachi since they also have chanko-nabe. Do you have additional details on these places, such as other menu offerings, quality, atmosphere and price?
All suggestions are welcome.
