I have posted a few times about my liking certain special entrees at Senor Fred, as opposed to the traditional food menu, but last night I tasted a new item on the list that even outdid my favorite Birria Jalisco.
It was the salmon dish. I also liked its previous preparation, but last night's was truly outstanding. It was a large piece of grilled salmon sitting atop a bed of roasted chile sauce, sweet corn, shrimp picadillo, asadero cheese and potato mash. Oh, my, what flavors. Too bad it was what my companion, first time visitor, ordered, so I only got to taste a little bit, but wow!
I once again had the birria jalisco, the lamb shank with mild red jalisco chile sauce, and it per usual was accompanied by the poblano goat cheese relleno, which is at least half the reason I order the lamb shank in the first place. Perfect combination of flavors, as always.
However, next time....
Had a bottle of Mexican wine, of which there are at least 5 or 6 on the wine list, all brought to you from the wine country just outside Ensenada!!! Really quite good stuff, and very affordable.
