We just got back from NOLA and I had to write about our favorite place. The Grapevine on Orleans Street(half a block off Bourbon) is a jewel. The chef has been there for over two years and always has something wonderful on the menu. The wine list is diverse and exciting - over 500 wines to choose from (try the wine flights if you are undecided).
This is one of those places where you can go in and immediately feel like a local. It's small - seats maybe 30 inside for dinner plus the bar. There is a courtyard but we have not been in the city when the weather was cool enough for us to enjoy. Sit at the bar and get to know the staff - have a glass of wine with the cheese board. Be sure to let the chef choose as he never dissapoints. Move to a table now that you've met everyone and enjoy a wonderful meal.
What is truly incredulous is how they put out the level of quality food from such a small kitchen (actually smaller than a ship's galley). A must go!!!
