The kidlet nearly begged for the "Blueberry Muffin" shredded wheat cereal. So I bought a box. As I feared, he liked the idea of this well-marketed gem better than the actual cereal itself. Not lovin' it myself, either. I hate throwing things away, but the odd purple-ish colored, kinda fakey blueberry-flavored icing is the challenge, as I try to think of a way to repurpose it. Ideally, there's a healthy bar cookie, granola bar, or even muffin recipe out there that I could FP the cereal into dust and "hide" it within. Looking for something I could send in the little guy's lunch that he'll never know contains the cereal at which he turned up his nose. I have some frozen blueberries, dried fruits, etc. I could use, too.
Don't want to feed it to Nana's chickens (even though they eat all sorts of castoff food. But who knows what the artificially colored and flavored icing would do to their eggs?) It's headed for the compost pile if I can't find a way to sneak this food into my kid.
