I've been going to the Ravenna Santa Fe Cafe since before I lived in Seattle. And have taken many trips to its namesake.
Last night I went to the Phinney Ridge location (now the only location) and the food is just as good. I still miss the Ravenna space but I found myself oohing and ahing all through the meal.
I started with their green salad with tarragon and blue cheese. I've tried duplicating this dressing at home and it's good, but never as good. However, they (like many restaurants) tend to overdress their salad.
Then I had my usual - a Santa Fe Plate - one cheese enchilda and one beef "soft" taco (quotes because the corn tortilla isn't totally submersed in sauce so gets a more hard than soft), with beans and posole. First of all, I think their beans are the best in the world - I know, that's going a bit overboard but they are great. Everything else was almots as wonderful. The flour tortilla that comes with it seemed a little less thick than it used to be but still very good. It's the only place where I put butter on my tortilla - the Ravenna location used to automatically give you butter, here you have to ask.
Also enjoyed a very good winter beer but I can't remember what one (it's a sign of getting older).
Anyway, the food is still great after all these year.
