I had the good fortune to have dinner at Oran Mor on Nantucket this weekend, and the food was all very good to excellent, HOWEVER the Chef got diver scallops from Maine which he prepared as a special and they were among the best things from the sea I have ever experienced.
The scallops were easily three inches tall and almost two inches in diameter, the looked like small filet mignon. They were grilled to a beautiful medium rare, and were so rich and flavorful.
If you are going to be on Nantucket, it is certainly not an inexpensive splurge, but the chow value of these scallops is huge.
The rest of the meal was very good, among the favorites were a very good lobster risotto that I am told is always on their menu, and some fantastic local mussels. The wine list was quite reasonable, and we were able to find a number of things we wanted to drink under $40.
