Went by Sconyer's Barbecue in Augusta,GA, this weekend and purchased two pounds of chopped pork and a quart of hash to bring home to SC for supper. I have to say this was absolutely the WORST barbecue I have ever eaten. Both the pork and the hash were so peppery hot it was near inedible; not even a hint of hickory smoked flavor. Even the coleslaw was of the "institutional" variety such as you'd buy prepackaged at your local grocery.
I have eaten Sconyer's barbecue two or three times over the past 20 years, and remember it as being pretty good. No more.
Would like to hear from anyone familiar with the well known Sconyer's and get your comments. Maybe the place has changed hands or cooks differently now. I know I won't be going back.
