Now that we have a reliable hybrid car, we will be cruising up to the NW instead of the typical flying. We've never driven the route before relying on those airplanes instead.
At this point, I'm figuring on rushing through California and meandering along the Oregon coast and on to the family in Bremerton. We were thinking of cutting over to Newport after Eugene and then going up the coast. But where to put the nightly stops with the yummiest restaurants or brew pubs or whatever? And how to avoid the scary fast food places?
Our needs are good food, beautiful viewing and reasonable shelter so we can spend more money on the food part of the trip. We will have 2 non-adult types who are trained to eat but probably wouldn't appreciate anything really pricey. I'm thinking of 2 nights in Oregon going up and the same going back. Any ideas on good food and good shelter will be appreciated. Thanks!
