I was looking for local Armenian places in the Pasadena area on chowhound, and came upon a recent post about the Old Sasoon Bakery.
I tried the soujuk cheese pie (I liked this one the best; nicely spiced ground meat... I think I tasted coriander?), basturma cheese pie (kinda like pastrami), and the potato pie (mashed potatoes, seasoned). I also bought some baklava, but haven't had the chance to try it yet. Next time, I'll have to try the spinach pie and the lahmajune.
As recommended, heat up the 'pies' (long pieces of chewy bread with something inside, similar to pizza pockets) before consumption, especially ones with cheese inside.
Pretty decent prices (approx $2 for the pies) and definitely a great, portable food item (as suggested by judybird). I'll have to remember this place the next time I have a long flight or going on a hike.
