Thanks to whoever suggested Franklin Market a while ago. It's a little Armenian-owned place next to Mayfair Market on Franklin.
A very nice sandwich: Mediterranean. An odd-ish mix of flavors, you would think: good Italian salami, very tasty fresh feta cheese, olive spread, and lettuce, tomato. But the balance of ingredients is exceedingly harmonious and lovely. It's less a "look at how freakin' great my bread and expensive ingredients are!" sandwich and more of a good ole sandwich made with love. Bread's OK-ish - a little old.
Somebody said the guy who runs it used to work at Barney Greengrass or Bart Greenblatt's or something? He made the sandwiches slow, but I think it was because of the care. Evenness of spread of salami and size of tomato and ratio of each ingredient was very good.
Anyway: not worth a trip from anywhere far, not holy, but a damn fine sandwich for $4 if you happen to be nearby.
