We were in RI this weekend and went again to San Vivaldo Trattoria in West Warwick. The food was great. Chef Alfie was a lot of fun. He was going over the menu and we said that everything sounded great and just bring us what he wanted. He said "Don't even worry about it, you'll love it". And we did.
Appetizer was mesclun greens ina vinegarette, with a zuchinni fritatta and stuffed zuchinni.
Melt in your mouth Veal Osso Bucco, with risotto. It was soo good that my son and I were fighting over it. My Mother had a penne pasta with "broken sausage" that was excellant. My wife had boneless chicken thighs with olives, mushroom and pasta. He was worried that we didn't have enough so he also brought over what he called an italian version of beef stroganoff.
Dessert was pumpkin cheesecake, lemon cake and chocolate cake. The cakes were dense and moist. The lemon cake was very lemony, delicious. The pumpkin cheesecake was like a decadent creamy pumpkin pie.
We also had a bottle of red wine I think it was Aztica (maybe) an Argentinian cab. We aren't wine drinkers but boy was that good.
Total bill, for four, with a bottle of wine, apps., entrees and desserts was less than $150 pre tip.
It is so fun to go put yourself into his hands and relax. A relaxed attitude is I think important to eat there.
We were the last people there at 7:00 and finished up at 9:00. There were 8 other diners there when we got there.
