I am a regular post-er/watcher on the Midwest Chowhound.com board. We are planning a trip to Maui in February 2006 - to break up the long flight we are stopping in San Fran and staying the night. Have never been to San Fran. We are going to rent a mini-van at the airport so that we can accomplish three things on our brief visit to San Fran (that I am sure without a doubt will have us wanting to come back for a longer stay): 1) Park downtown so we can catch the trolley to Fisherman's Wharf, 2) Have lunch at Fisherman's Wharf somewhere, 3) Trolley back to car, pick up van, and visit the Golden Gate bridge before heading back to hotel. Any native San Fran Chowhounders: Can anyone recommend a moderate lunch at Fisherman's Wharf? My boss likes Scoma's - I've looked at their menu but from the FW web site there are many restaurants there to choose from.
Also, not a food question but hopefully okay to tag on here, since we are not familiar with the area, will it be easy for us to find a place to park downtown near a trolley with as little walking as possible to the trolley (two 70 year-old ladies with us)and figure out how to use the trolley to get to Fisherman's Wharf. If some restaurants are recommended is it easy to figure out where to get off the trolley near a particular restaurant?
Thanks for any help! -- tw
P.S. Would anyone also know if the trolley cars have handicapped access?
