San Diego odds and ends...

I'm finally catching up with things so I thought I'd post a few items...for those that already know this stuff....my apologies in advance...

Nijiya Market on Convoy has moved to a new location in the same strip mall but with double(at least) the square footage. They now feature a larger deli-like area as well as indoor tables for eating. The Grand re-opening was on 02/01 and got some great deals on Rib for Sukiyaki (2.99/lb) and fresh Shiitakes ($.99 a package), also a larger selection of seafood....No liquor license yet, so no sakes and such, but was told within the next few weeks.

Needed to restock my supply of Koo Chu Jung so went to the location of Zion Market...there's different market there now. Zion Market has relocated to Mercury St between Engineer Rd and Balboa Ave. It’s now in a huge location with a mini-food court, large(r) selection of kim chee, namul, and such…also found that the “olfactory effect” is much lower, the meat department looks really neat and clean.

Funny thing happened at Spicy City the other week. Because things were so rushed I called in a take-out order. When my wife and I went to pick up our order the Owner spoke to my wife in Mandarin and basically told her not to order anymore take-out, they’re too busy to do take-out…ummm, excuse me, but after spending $$$ there over the last couple of years, this is what we get…..if they don’t want take-out, why do they have take-out menus??? Scratch this place from our list….
