Salvaging Raisins on the Hard Side

Sunmaid packages a bag of assorted raisins in a pouch that I like. However, sometimes when I buy them, they are so very soft and delicious, and other times, not so soft and even sometimes sort of hard. I wrote to Sunmaid about this and they claimed that they harden up if they are not stored properly. I know my grocery store gets new shipments in regularly so it's not old bags I'm buying. Perhaps it's the heat of South Florida? In any event, any ideas for bringing the softness back? I know you can plump raisins; but I always thought that was more for baking purposes as opposed to readying them to eat out of hand.
